We are the knights who say Achoo!

We are ALL sick. Except for husband who is away for three days on a work thing. He is not allowed to be sick because I am sick. I have forbade it. No man colds. I have my own cold, a 3 year-old with a cold and a 5 month-old with a cold, so man colds are out.

I went over to my neighbour's before and she gave me some chicken soup. We have the hacking cough that is generally looked down upon at the grocery store so I am trying to avoid it. And I didn't actually go in her house I kind of stood on the front lawn where my hacking cough germs hopefully didn't enter her house.

To make these three days without husband even better, the Kid ran into his toy box and has pushed one of his front teeth back. We went to the dentist and I was told pretty much what I could have guessed myself: the tooth may or may not fall out and the adult tooth may or may not be damaged - and he shouldn't be chewing. The tooth has only moved two millimeters, but his mouth is so small which makes those 2mm look like 2cm and it is very painful as his front teeth meet when he bites down. I have no idea if that made any sense at all. Day two of 100% indoor activities (such as Dinosaur Train on drip-feed) is taking its toll on my brain. Poor little mite with his sore tooth. We have been eating lots of soup, yoghurt and Milo (Australian malty hot choc with label indicating it contains vitamins therefore easing my guilty mom feelings). I am sick of tomato soup - hence quick dash to steal chicken soup from my neighbour.

I made chicken noodle soup last night but it was a complete disaster. I don't like using pre-made stock cubes etc and I had some organic liquid veg stock, so I used that to cook the chicken in. I don't know where things went wrong, but soup was very very dark brown. Suspiciously dark brown. And I had to dismember the chicken before making the soup which always brings on the heebie geebies. So heebie geebies in full effect and dark dark soup suspicions aside, I tried my soup and it was greasy and bland. So I turfed the soup and kept the cooked chicken for a better day. We had tomato soup.

This morning I woke up to find that Pet our household goldfish was not 'breathing' to well. So I thought I would change the water - I think I killed it. Shocked it to death. Then I tipped out the water and 3 YO son came to see what I was doing. I explained. 'But Pet was my friend," he said with tears. Then he seemed to recover and asked, "Can we make Pet fly?" We didn't explore that suggestion as I suspect it might have involved throwing Pet. So we buried him in the back garden. Why. Why. Why. Lots of questions. No more discussion of making him fly - thank goodness.

And now our bottom dishwasher is making unhappy beeps.

Woe is me.

On a funny note, I have been watching Jerseylicious with Husband and it is too funny. I'm not sure if it's meant to be funny, but it is. Case in point: One of the women on the show said she was 'feeling like McBeth'. The woman she is talking to says, 'Who's McBeth? Is that like some girl I don't know.' Makes me laugh.

Monty Python always makes me laugh. As does the mobile in the top photo: Ministry of Silly Walks inspired mobile.

And lastly, when searching for the Monty Python poster, I came across this funny item:

  1. Are you better now? Matt is sick and seems determined that we all get it by coughing and spluttering everywhere (and loud moaning for effect). I am following his every move with a can of Glen 20.

  2. PS.The word verification to post my comment above started with 'hack'. Appropriate, I thought.
And also, Matt had a good laugh at 1) you having a fish called Pet, and 2) Ben wanting to make Pet fly.
    :D
