A desk for my boy

I grabbed an old science book from the local op shop and used some of the excellent illustrations to cover my son's desk.  I bought a $20 hollow-core door, made (yes, made) Matt trim off one end with the circular saw, glued the pages on and then covered desk with a water-based varnish.  I'm sure there is are a few expert decoupagers out there who have a better method, but I didn't bother to find out so the desk is a tad wrinkly.  My son doesn't seem to care so neither do I.  The choosing of the illustrations took ages because they were so interesting.  Check some of them out:

Cloud types

Flags including East and West Germany (not in this pic), soil layers (personal favourite of mine - my dad was a geological engineer) and boiling liquids

Ice Hockey and the production of electricity

The desk.  It has ikea $5 legs on the RH side and some Ikea drawers on the left.  Note the lego posters on his magnet board: he is addicted!

Is decoupage an olympic event yet? It should be. Really. It was hard work.

 Another lazy phone post!
