I like the old stuff better than the new stuff...

I haven't blogged for ages. It also feels as though I haven't done anything blog worthy for ages.

I have been busy sleeping and eating and steadily removing items of clothing that no longer fit. I think that I have passed the fatigued/nauseous/no fun part of being pregnant and am moving on to the getting-fat and getting-on-with-things phase.

I think for the first 12 or so weeks all I did was eat and sleep. When Ben would sleep so would I and I was still falling asleep on the couch at about 7:30. It has been a party at our house.

We ventured out to Healesville Sanctuary a few weekends ago. Ben loves animals and running so Healesville Sanctuary was a great day - we saw lots of animals and the whole place is fenced and secure for lots of running.

We have also been having weekly tantrums when we can't drive daddy's car. Driving usually consists of turning all the knobs in the car, pressing on all the buttons and beeping the horn a million or so times. It's not my car so it doesn't really bother me when Matt turns on his car and on comes the air-con (it's winter here), the fog lights, the mirrors are turned to interesting places but the horn is a killer - I'm sure that the neighbours will have something to say sooner or later.

Speaking of neighbours I long to not see any. Don't get me wrong we really like all of our neighbours, but I have been thinking a lot about where we could live and not see or hear our neighbours. Of course I compare every location to where I grew up and the grass is always greener over there because all I remember are the great parts of where I grew up. Well I do remember the crap parts but I tend to exclude those from my search for my perfect place to live.

Matt on the other hand is back on the Canada bandwagon after watching a few Warren Miller movies. He's already set up one ski trip, with his friends, for this winter and the ski season started two days ago. The only thing Warren Miller movies make me do is move to another room. I get no enjoyment from any of the 'going fast' things Matt loves so much: Skiing, going fast in the snow; dirt biking, going fast in the forest; mountain biking, going fast in a different forest; surfing, going fast in shark infested waters... I'm more of a reading a book by the fire type. When I do go skiing my favourite part is chips and hot gravy at a mid-mountain lodge.

We are going with my mom and Derek for a train ride this afternoon. Ben LOVES trains. He plays with his train track, makes train noises ALL day long and tells people that he is always telling people that he has been on Puffing Billy. He hasn't been on Puffing Billy and it is always with a little bit of shame that I have to tell shopkeepers, daycare staff or whomever he tells that we haven't really been on Puffing Billy we watch it on youtube. So this afternoon we are going for a ride. We are taking the video camera because Ben sometimes likes seeing photos and videos of the day more than the actual event. I think that sometimes he gets a bit scared and we forget that he's only 2 and a half.
